FIWARE Mundus visits the South East of Ireland with view to set up a FIWARE region.

A meeting was held in Waterford, Ireland between the FIWARE Mundus representatives from the FI-LINKS project, Orange Labs and InterInnov, and Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and their Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), the FIWARE node of Ireland, eDIGIREGION project, coordinated by WIT, and other interested representatives from South East Ireland, with the view to setting up an official FIWARE region in the South East of Ireland.

The objective of the FIWARE Mundus programme is to establish worldwide links that help FIWARE to thrive within and beyond European borders by mobilizing policy makers and innovation ecosystems in in regions where FIWARE would help embracing the Future Internet challenges.

The outcome of the meeting was a significant interest to continue interactions with FIWARE Mundus in order to proceed with the mobilization of the relevant ecosystems towards establishing a FIWARE region in the South East of Ireland and/or examine whether it would be more sustainable to involve other Irish regions as well. A number of action points were generated at the meeting and these are being followed up by the participants.
