As detailed in the project Strategy section, ceFIMS-CONNECT represents the enabling phase, supporting the engagement of National and European FI stakeholders to realize the measures and recommendations set out in the final ceFIMS roadmap.
To further this aspect, the project has submitted a deliverable for initial review entitled The Guidelines report. The report focuses in particular on the second recommendation of the roadmap, namely: R2. Determine, agree and make institutional changes to establish National FI Chapters.
The aim of this report is to provide a standardized way for gathering information on FIF members’ diverse and heterogeneous FI Research & Innovation (FI R&I) structures. As agreed at the 11th FIF meeting held in March 2014 alongside FIA Athens 2014, a first step has been made in researching the structures for four countries: Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Spain and creating country FI R&I structure maps, and generalizing a template map as shown below from them as a starting point for characterizing essential elements and relevant stakeholder groups.
The approach taken by each of the members of the ceFIMS-CONNECT consortium was to carry out a fact finding exercise and comprehensive analysis of the current FI R&I structures in their countries, namely, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Spain and draw an initial picture of them for analysis. This enabled the Guidelines report to suggest a first attempt at a standardized way for gathering information on FIF members’ diverse and heterogeneous FI research & innovation (FI R&I) structures, which has always been a difficult, if not impossible, exercise.
Below we present initial pictures from the analysis of Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Spain. Please click on the individual pictures for a higher quality image.
Once reviewed and accepted, the full ceFIMS-CONNECT Guidelines report will be made available on the web portal.
