Coordinating European Future Internet Research

Tidal News

_____________________________________________________________________

SUMMARY

The Tidal News project seeks to tackles challenges arising from the exponential expansion of the increasingly complex, extensive, and heterogeneous internet systems of which the Internet of Things consists. The project aims to improve the inter-connection architectures and technologies which connect Things. Specifically, the team will develop new, leading-edge middleware for distributed event-based architectures which have become the prevailing paradigm for inter-system communication due to enhanced decoupling and reduced dependencies between components.

SOLUTIONS

  • Enhancing the Internet of Systems with dynamic system organisation which is inherent to modern inter-system communication for the Internet of Things
  • Developing fundamentally new middleware technologies for distributed event-based architectures capable of coping with the enormous volume of constantly changing data underlying network connectivity
  • Designing systems capable of rapidly and reliably disseminating larger and larger, continuous data flows and massive unpredictable bursts of data at geographically dispersed locations to a large number of potentially mobile and heterogeneous clients, in a way that intelligently adapts to both the underlying contextual conditions and user-specified requirements
