SUMMARY
MoDisSENSE seeks to enrich social networking services by utilizing the data generated by mobile smart devices and social network end-users in the creation of a socially-augmented search system.
The project will develop advanced search services based on combined heterogeneous data sources such as spatio-temporal location, social logs, profiles and user preferences. The research can then be applied to the production of a set of augmented social network applications which will allow a user to access location-based services tailored to their user profile. For example, the user might wish to find the cheapest, closest gas station which is also recommended / most-visited by friends and acquaintances.

- Using “state of the art” techniques for the design and management of heterogeneous data collected from mobile terminals and social networking users
- Utilising techniques of distributed storage, processing, search and spatio-temporal, multidimensional indexing
- Producing a cost-effective and accessible socially-augemnted search system capable of handling loads, flows of information and complex questions and searches
