SUMMARY
MADYNES is a research team affiliated with the University of Nancy federation and INRIA. The team is located in the joint INRIA Grand Est and LORIA premise. The project focuses on applied and experimental research dedicated to the management of the Future Internet. More specifically, the MADYNES team are interested in designing and studying novel approaches to configure, monitor and secure the communication protocols and services of the future Internet.

SOLUTIONS
-
Vulnerability management:
- Conceptualisng and realising advanced fuzzing methods which are able to reveal vulnerabilities in deep states of protocol engines.
- Protecting systems against malicious exploitation, the team investigates near real-time risk management approaches to dynamically adapt the exposure of systems to an evaluated threat level so as to minimize the the risk.
- Creating advanced protection schemes including firewalls and attacker costly counter-measures.
-
Large-scale monitoring
- Designing distributed monitoring approaches which are able to efficiently collect the necessary information with a minimal cost from within massively distributed environments such as P2P networks or large sensor networks
- Developing monitoring solutions able to identify malicious behavior, including the use of machine learning techniques for anomaly detection as well as for automated fingerprinting.
-
Network-wide Configuration
- Investigating both configuration protocols (Netconf) and configuration data models (YANG) which represent in a structured way the configuration parameters of a system.
- Providing models to build safe configurations of network parameters
- Studying the properties and improving the performance of configuration protocols
-
Dynamic network co-simulation
- Designing rich simulation environments which can benefit from the coupling of multiple specific simulation environments dedicated to a precise and efficient simulation of a subset of the overall addressed problem
- Developing co-simulation environments integrating network simulation and multi-agent systems based environment and actor’s behavior simulators.
