SUMMARY

Nature is replete with highly intricate and dynamic systems and processes which have been refined over millions of years of evolutionary fin-tuning. Biomimicry is the technique of emulating natural processes and structures to find solutions to human problems.

The GeNeura research group seeks to bring biomimicry to the domain of ICT, specifically the fields of network design. The group’s research and software development are mainly focused on bioinspired algorithms based on complex neural networks, ant colony and evolutionary algorithms; with free/libre software as a guide principle.

SOLUTIONS

  • Exploring techniques for the self-evolution of non-hierarchical networks such as cloud and P2P systems
  • Producing a low-cost and autonomous prediction and information system for real-time traffic management using distributed devices
  • Designing a self-evolving model for the management of eHealth systems
