SUMMARY
Oil and gas operations are increasingly dependent on an extensive network of sensors for measurement and the logging of relevant parameters such as pressure, temperature, water and sand detection. The increasingly pronounced trend in Norwegian Continental Shelf operations is towards unmanned subsea installations distributed in a network on the seabed makes sensor-based information not only useful but absolutely necessary.
The Digital oil (Doil) project addresses the challenging research issue and pressing, practical concern of utilising ICT to process and manage the vast amounts of heterogeneous data generated by subsea, wireless sensor-based operations. Doil will conduct its research in collaboration with a full array of industry and research partners.

SOLUTIONS
- Improving the efficiency and extending the scope of wireless, sensor-based, subsea oil and gas operations
- Producing tactics for trusting sensor-based information
- Identifying user-driven heuristics for generating overviews of the well life-cycle
- Developing a a demonstrator for situated searches of the full well life-cycle
- Collaborating with a comprehensive international network of oil and gas companies, fuel service firms and ICT vendors
