SUMMARY
One of the biggest challenges facing the telecommunications industry is to satisfy user requirements and optimally utilise network infrastructure to achieve sustainable solutions for industry while also providing affordable products and services to end-users.
The CONFES project aims to provide a solution to this challenge by developing an integrated wireless-wired transmission network infrastructure of ultra-high capacity, serving both next generation mobile networks and fixed metropolitan ones. The design output of the project will be based on optical technologies which offer considerable advantages in terms of flexible traffic management, operating costs and capacity for future network upgrades and expansions.

SOLUTIONS
- Developing flat design, dynamic reconfiguration and optimized processes for end-to-end resource allocation, traffic sharing and scheduling and technology convergence to reduce operational costs and investment costs
- Designing techniques of automatic adaptation to the frequent traffic fluctuations that characterize a typical next generation wireless network
- Creating suitable mechanisms for traffic management, routing, measurements and performance analysis through an integrated management platform
- Providing flexible service and guaranteed quality of service (QoS).
