SUMMARY

The goal of the COMMIT programme is to find solutions to societal problems and to exploit socio-economic opportunities through the use of ICT technology. The programme also aims to strengthen the Dutch ICT innovation ecosystem by establishing best-practices in public-private collaboration. COMMIT will pursue three specific objectives: producing multi-disciplinary research projects whose impact on society is directed according to given priority themes; providing solutions through conducting leading-edge, needs-oriented fundamental; consolidating and disseminating acquired knowledge.

The COMMIT programme will fund 26 high-quality, publicly and privately funded research projects in six societal themes: well-being, information services, sciences, applied sciences, transport, and public safety. These themes have been selected not only because of their priority status for Dutch society, but also because of their potential for realising major ICT innovations.
