SUMMARY
The Internet of Things represents a vision of an Internet that extends into the real world and encompasses everyday objects. In this network of Internet-enabled devices, physical items are no longer disconnected from the virtual world but rather become accessible through computers and other networked devices. The development towards the Internet of Things will enable the monitoring of the the real world by collecting up-to-date information directly from networked physical objects.
The goal of this project is to develop the core components which will transform the Internet of Things from a vague concept and a basic infrastructure into an open and accessible system integrated into the World Wide Web. The project team hopes to contribute to the creation of a Web-based Internet of Things that becomes an everyday experience in citizen’s personal and business lives wheresmart homes switch on the heating as soon as their owners are on the commute home, where mobile phones advise their users on how to economize their power consumption and where real-time data from the environment is used to increase our individual safety, security, and healthcare

SOLUTIONS
- Transforming the Internet of Things into an open and accessible system integrated into the World Wide Web by creating a scalable Web of Things infrastructure as the architectural backbone for an environment of Web-enabled devices
- Enabling devices to interact with each other and to semantically describe their services to the world
- Integrating a discovery and search mechanism for Smart devices to allow computers as well as human users to find, select, and use smart things in a reliable and user-friendly way
- Designing real-world deployments to test and evaluate our developments
