Sense Smart City
The aim of this project is to turn the small, northern municipality of Skellefteå into a Smart City – an urban space interconnected through sensor networks which manage the collection, measurement and communication of data and the allocation of resources. The end result will be the provision of more efficient, comprehensive and energy-aware services to Skellefteå’s citizens.
The project supports the collaboration of local SMEs with municipal authorities in researching innovative mobile systems technology and developing SmartCity products and services at the local university.
A platform will also be developed by the project team to manage collected sensor data and security, which will enhance existing Smart services and enable the provision of new ones.
- Designing a new product which measures sewage flow so as to detect and report leaks and overflows.
- Collaborating with local SME’s on other Smart prototypes.
- Constructing a “Sense Smart City platform” to store collected sensor data and security in the cloud and host new applications utilising the gathered data.
